The etymology of Huatulco derives from the nahuatl word "quauhtloco" that means 'place where the wood is revered'. This zone represented one of the first important way of communication and commerce, in the XVI sec. it was conquered by the Nahutleses. The population introduces two races in its origin: the zapoteca and the chontal. |
|
Situated on the Mexican South Pacific coast , 277 kms away from the state capital Oaxaca , Huatulco enjoys of an annual medium temperature of 28 C°s, with only 40 cloudy days per year. The aggressive beauty of this zone derives from its location among the mountains of the Sierra Madre del Sur decreasing to the ocean through the valleys of the rivers Coyula, St. Agustin and Copalita . |
